A former Roadrunner, Chantel Govan, will enter her third season as Assistant Coach / Recruiting Coordinator in 2026-27 after serving as Director of Operations for the 2023-24 season and as a Graduate Assistant during the 2022-23 season. Govan will add lead guard coach to her duties for the 2026-27 campaign.

Guards she’s mentored at UTSA include 2024-25 American Conference Newcomer of the Year, All-Newcomer and All-Conference Second Team selection, Nina De Leon Negron, and 2026 American All-Tournament pick, Ereauna Hardaway.

The 2025-26 season saw UTSA receive the No. 6 seed in the American Women's Basketball Championship, prompting a sensational surge where the squad won four games in five days to claim a tournament title, and punch UTSA's ticket to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2009 and the third time in program history. Additionally, the Roadrunners made a national postseason tournament for the third consecutive season, marking the first time in program history.

Govan saw UTSA have a historic season in 2024-25, with a 26-5 record representing the best in program history. The Roadrunners compiled a 17-1 mark in American Athletic Conference play, landing the squad a regular-season title. Additionally, UTSA was selected at-large for the Women's Basketball Invitational Tournament [WBIT], marking back-to-back seasons that the squad made a national postseason tournament.

In 2023-24, while serving as Director of Operations, the Roadrunners went 18-15, making the Women's National Invitational Tournament [WNIT] for the squad's first national postseason berth since the 2008-09 season.

She had a multitude of duties as the Roadrunners' Graduate Assistant, including overseeing the student managers, assisting in practice and skills workouts, aiding the previous operations person with travel itineraries, and many other tasks.

The Converse, Texas, native first began her UTSA journey as a student-athlete during the 2021-22 season. After spending two seasons at Cal Poly, she decided to come home for her final year of eligibility, playing in 25 games while averaging 23 minutes per game. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in multidisciplinary studies from UTSA in spring 2022.

At Cal Poly, Govan averaged 17.5 minutes per game, earning 16 starts in 44 games played across two seasons. In her junior season, she had a trio of at least three-steal performances, including a career-high four-steals against UC Santa Barbara. She also had an impressive career-best six assists against Long Beach State.

She started her collegiate career in the Lone Star State, spending two seasons at South Plains College and earning her Associate of Arts degree in the spring of 2019.
