SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's basketball program is set to host their annual potluck event on Monday, Oct. 23, with fans invited to the Convocation Center to witness an open practice beginning at 5:30 p.m., ahead of the potluck at 6:30 p.m. Those wishing to attend and bring a dish may RSVP to Director of Operations, Chantel Govan, at chantel.govan@utsa.edu.
The event will provide a first look at the 2023-24 women's basketball squad ahead of its inaugural season in the American Athletic Conference, with a roster bolstering 11 returners, including the entire starting five. Senior Jordyn Jenkins led the way for the 'Runners last season, collecting the 2022-23 C-USA Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year accolades en route to a preseason second-team All-American Athletic Conference nod.
Joining Jenkins in achieving postseason honors, classmate Kyra White was named All-Texas honorable mention, redshirt junior Elyssa Coleman to the C-USA All-Defensive team, and sophomore Sidney Love to the league's All-Freshman squad. Additionally, graduate student Hailey Atwood rounds out the returning starters following a season that saw her named C-USA Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Other letter winners in the squad include sophomores Alexis Parker, Siena Guttadauro, Madison Cockrell, and Maya Linton, while Kylie McGuire and Nissa Sam-Grant return for their senior season. Five newcomers will join the squad as Emma Lucio, Aysia Proctor, and Idara Udo join as true freshmen, with sophomore Cheyenne Rowe moving to San Antonio following a year at James Madison. Sophomore Sarai Estupiñan also transfers into UTSA after stints at St. Mary's (TX) and Tallahassee CC.
