Carol Price, the newest addition to the Roadrunners volleyball coaching staff, begins her third year as an assistant coach in 2008.
In her first two seasons, six players have earned All-Southland Conference accolades, including 2006 first-team selection Connie Picard and ’07 first-teamer Victoria Prior. Additionally, five student-athletes have garnered SLC All-Academic accolades, four of which have been first-team selections (Meagan Daniel, Erin McMillan, Picard and DeeDee Strickland in 2006).
“We’re excited to welcome Carol to our staff,” head coach Laura Neugebauer-Groff said upon Price’s hiring in June 2006. “Her successful background as a player brings a lot to our program and she also adds additional resources to our recruiting efforts in the Midwest.”
Price came to UTSA after a one-year stint as an assistant at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. In 2005, she helped lead the Pirates to a 36-5 record, their first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship since 1997 and a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
The Fenton, Mich., native played collegiately at Texas A&M from 2000-03. She was a two-year starter at outside hitter for the Aggies and tabbed the team’s Most Improved Player as a junior and Best Offensive Player as a senior after moving from middle blocker. Price also played center for the A&M basketball team in 2003-04.
She was a Texas A&M scholar-athlete and earned her bachelor’s degree in horticulture in 2004.
