Price joins volleyball staff

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA head volleyball coach Laura Neugebauer-Groff announced the hiring of Carol Price to her coaching staff on Monday.

Price comes to UTSA after a one-year stint as an assistant at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Last year, she helped lead the Pirates to a 36-5 record, their first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship since 1997 and a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

"We're excited to welcome Carol to our staff," Neugebauer-Groff said. "Her successful background as a player brings a lot to our program and she also adds additional resources to our recruiting efforts in the Midwest."

The Fenton, Mich., native played collegiately at Texas A&M from 2000-03 and was a two-year starter at outside hitter for the Aggies. She also played center for the A&M basketball team in 2003-04. Price earned her bachelor's degree in horticulture in 2004.

The Roadrunners begin the 2006 season against Syracuse on Friday, Aug. 25, in the Wichita State Tournament.
