Former UTSA baseball player Rodney Garza enters his second season on the Roadrunners coaching staff as a volunteer assistant in 2017.
Head baseball coach Jason Marshall announced the addition of Garza in September 2015. Since his return to the Alamo City, Garza has helped in all aspects of the baseball program from scouting reports to working primarily with infielders and hitters.
Before joining the coaching staff, Garza coached at Davis High School in Houston’s Aldine Independent School District.
Garza, a native of Magnolia, was a two-year letter winner for the Roadrunners after transferring from Paris Junior College. In his final season, he saw action in 37 games and registered 29 hits with 18 runs scored. Garza also was recognized on the league’s all-academic team and owns the program’s third best career fielding percentage of .992.
The former Roadrunner graduated in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in history.
