About the UTSA Roadrunners
The Roadrunners spent last week away from San Antonio, splitting with Texas State and Denver. Earning the mile-high victory on Saturday for the first road win of the season, UTSA was powered by a career-best 23-point, 12-rebound double-double from sophomore forward/guard Baboucarr Njie, tag-teaming with graduate student guard Jamir Simpson (20 points) and redshirt junior guard Austin Nunez (16 points) to shoot 51.2 percent from the floor as a trio and log 59 of UTSA’s points in the 84-79 win in Denver.

A team effort that saw steady offense throughout and defensive stops when it counted, UTSA shot a season-best 51.8 percent from the field, 47.8 percent from three and commanded the boards with a 37-27 rebound margin over the homestanding Pioneers.

On the season, the Roadrunners average 77.5 ppg on 42.5 percent shooting, scoring 15.5 fast break points per outing and collecting 42.5 rpg. Pacing the scoring effort, Simpson is averaging 17.8 ppg as the No. 7 scorer in the American, putting up double-figures in each game this season and at least 20 the past two games. The Southern Utah transfer averages an American second-most 3.5 threes per game (37th NCAA) and is shooting 42.5 percent beyond the arc. After an explosive week for the Roadrunners, Njie is averaging 11.8 points with 7.5 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.3 steals per game. Topping UTSA on the glass, freshman forward Kaidon Rayfield has proven solid in his first four collegiate games, collecting 8.5 boards to go with 11.3 points per game so far. Nunez tops UTSA with 2.3 assists per game alongside 8.8 points.

About the Southwestern Christian Eagles
Coming south out of Bethany, Oklahoma, NAIA and Sooner Athletic Conference foe Southwestern Christian has opened the season at 2-2 and is coming off a conference loss against Oklahoma City University. In the sixth overall season under Quinn Woolridge, the Eagles played last week across San Antonio at Incarnate Word. Against UIW, the final margin was 109-70, but the Eagles hung around deep into the first half, hitting a pair of free throws to make it a four-point game with 5:54 on the clock. However, the Cardinals built out a double-digit lead on a late run and went into half up by seven. UIW outscored SCU 26-6 over the first nine minutes of the second half and ran away with the game.

On the season, SCU is scoring 70.8 ppg on 41.8 percent shooting, grabbing 37.0 rpg with 15.0 apg and giving up 14.5 turnovers on average. Sporting a big roster while playing 17 against UIW, SCU is led in scoring by 6-foot-9 junior Michal Wooldridge with 15.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg, ahead of freshman JaColby Williams with 13.3 ppg and a team-high 5.3 rpg as the only two double-figure averages. Five other Eagles average at least 5.8 ppg.

This is the first meeting between these teams and these coaches.
