SAN ANTONIO— Outfielder Drew Detlefsen was named American Athletics Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 5. This is Detlefsen’s second AAC Player of the Week award this season, as he earned his first on Monday, Mar. 10.
Detlefsen continued to be the Roadrunners’ top run producer as he drove in five RBIs for UTSA. Detlefsen batted .444 on the week with an OB% of 500 and a slugging percentage of .888. Detlefsen recorded eight hits with two doubles and two home runs. Detlefsen drew two walks in the week.
Braylon Owens was also named to the honor roll this week, his second time making the honor roll this season. Owens had a great week as he racked up one win and one save on the week. Owens tossed a career-high 8.2 innings against USF on Sunday, a 3-2 victory over the Bulls.
UTSA has now won seven Player of the Week awards this year, their fourth straight: both Mason Lytle and Detlefsen have won it twice, Ty Hodge, Norris McClure and Andrew Stucky have all won it once. Owens is the only UTSA pitcher named Pitcher of the Week. Conor Myles, Caden Miller, Robert Orloski, James Taussig and Owens have all garnered honorable mentions.
