SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men’s tennis team (10-8) delivered the fourth consecutive season with double-digit wins under Sergey Avdeyev on Saturday’s 6-1 victory over 2024 Southland Conference regular season champion Incarnate Word (UIW) (18-4) on Saturday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center. The Roadrunners celebrated three outgoing seniors at the midpoint of the match, Alan Magadan (McAllen, Texas), Jackson Ross (San Antonio, Texas) and Garrett Skelly (The Woodlands, Texas).
The Roadrunners went right to work in doubles play with a race to the initial point between the tandems on lines two and three – won by Jackson Ross and Garrett Skelly on two with a 6-3 win over Noah De Luna and Arnau Miralles. Just seconds later, Alan Magadan and Miguel Alonso downed Tomas Reche and Emilio Vila, 6-3. Tomás Pinho and Tiago Torres were sitting at 5-5 when the point clinched.
With the senior celebration in the books, Pinho came out firing on court three, putting away Vila in just 50 minutes via a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Torres wasn’t far behind, dropping Tomas Reche, 6-3, 6-2, on line two. Magadan followed on one just moments later, clinching the team victory with a 6-1, 6-4 besting of Joao Sasso. The Roadrunners picked up two additional scores in the 6-1 win courtesy of Alonso on six (6-3, 6-1) and Danijal Muminovic on four (6-3, 6-2).
