UTSA baseball defeats Navarro in fall contest

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA Baseball concluded its 14-inning game against Navarro on Friday, Nov. 1, at Roadrunner Field with a 21-2 victory. The Roadrunner pitching staff tossed 12 consecutive scoreless innings.

As an offense, the Roadrunners managed to rack up 21 runs, 20 hits and 19 RBIs in their 14 innings of work. UTSA bats were hot all day as they were able to notch at least one run in eight innings, with their most runs scored in an inning coming in the first with five.

On the mound, UTSA pitchers held the Bulldogs to just two runs in 14 innings. They gave up just six hits, striking out 26 total Navarro hitters, walking three.

Junior Zach Royse started on the mound for the Roadrunners. He threw three complete innings, allowing only two hits and one run. Royse struck out two Bulldogs during his time on the mound.

Braylon Owens came into the game in relief, tossing three scoreless innings, only giving up one hit and striking out six batters. Rob Orloski also threw for three scoreless innings, only giving up one hit, but stuck out the team-leading seven hitters.

At the plate, James Taussig recorded three hits on seven at-bats with one walk and one RBI. Outfielder Tye Odom had three hits on the day in just four at-bats recording three RBIs and two runs.

Both Broc Parmer and Andrew Stucky had two hits on the day. Stucky batted in two runners, while Parmer knocked in one.  Stucky also had three runs while Parmer was brought home once.

The Roadrunners will continue their fall contests facing off against Alvin CC at Roadrunner field on Friday, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m.
