EDINBURG, Texas – The UTSA men’s tennis team (1-1) registered its first win of the 2024 campaign on Wednesday at the Orville I. Cox Tennis Center, sweeping UT Rio Grande Valley (2-4) ahead of preparations to face some of the top teams in the nation this weekend in Austin at the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
UTSA’s only stumble came in the doubles, as the Vaqueros secured a win on the first doubles court. However, the Roadrunners quickly rallied as Miguel Alonso and Tiago Torres topped Ivo Isqueiro and Agustin Salazar on court three, 6-3. With the doubles match split, Jackson Ross and Garrett Skelly brought it home with a 6-4 victory over Paolo Bonaguro and Santiago Serrano on court No. 2.

Alan Magadan knocked down Emilien Burnel on the top flight, 6-2, 6-1. Danijal Muminovic picked up the official team victory on court four with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Isqueiro. Putting the icing on the 7-0 sweep, Tomás Pinho won court two, 6-3, 6-3, Alonso topped No. 6, 6-4, 6-3, and Skelly finished off court five, 7-5, 6-3.
