IRVING — Led by UTSA's league-high 65 recipients, a total of 672 student-athletes earned a Conference USA Academic Medal during the 2016-17 academic year, Commissioner Judy MacLeod announced on Friday. Medals are given to those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better.
The total number was an increase of more than 11 percent from a year ago. Marshall placed second with its 64 honorees, followed by UAB's 55.
