Lozano leads UTSA at Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate

VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. — Zander Lozano finished 23rd to lead the UTSA men's golf team to 12th place at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, which wrapped up on Tuesday at Old Overton Country Club (par 70/7,204 yards).

Lozano carded a 6-over-par 216 to finish 23rd in the 60-man field. The junior from Fair Oaks Ranch wrote down birdies on three holes on the front nine as part of a 33, and he finished with a 2-over 72 in finishing as the top Roadrunner for the second time this season. Lozano recorded an eagle on the par-4 15th in each of his first two rounds on Monday en route to posting a 74-70—144.

Sean Meehan was three shots behind Lozano at 9-over 219, good for a tie for 28th. The sophomore from San Antonio Johnson High School registered rounds of 74, 68 and 77.

Bryce Alley tied for 39th with a 75-72-74—221, while Adam House and Dylan Godfrey rounded out the UTSA lineup in 58th (78-76-76—230) and 59th (78-74-79—231), respectively.

Auburn captured the team title with an even-par 840 (284-274-282) in a field that featured seven top-50 teams from last season. UNLV was second (841) and Baylor finished third (847), followed by UAB (856) and host Alabama (858).

UNLV's John Oda was the individual medalist with a 7-under 203 (67-72-64).

The Roadrunners will return to the course on Oct. 10-11 when they travel to Pearland to compete at the Bayou City Intercollegiate.
