SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's golf team will travel to El Paso to compete in the Price's "Give 'Em Five" Invitational, which will be held Friday-Sunday, Oct. 28-30 at Butterfield Trail Golf Club (par 72/7,307 yards).
The Roadrunners will compete against Air Force, Army, Marquette, New Mexico State, San Jose State, Seton Hall, Texas State, UTEP, UTRGV and Western New Mexico. The field will play 18 holes each day with team times at 9 a.m. Central time on the first two days followed by a 9:15 a.m. CT shotgun start on Sunday.
UTSA is coming off an eighth-place finish at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic on Oct. 10-11 in Pearland, Texas. Bryce Alley tied for 16th with a 2-over-par 218 (71-72-75), and Zander Lozano and Sean Meehan were one shot back in a tie for 21st.
The Roadrunners finished eighth with an 8-under 856 at last year's Price's "Give 'Em Five" Invitational. Lozano tied for 16th with a 5-under 211 (70-68-73) and J.J. Lindsey was 29th with a 214 (71-75-68) to lead the way, while Meehan was the low Roadrunner with a 6-under 210 (69-69-72) to tie for 11th competing as an individual.
Two years ago in their first appearance at the tournament, the Birds set five school records in placing fifth. UTSA carded a 28-under 836, the program's lowest overall and par-72 scorecard. The Roadrunners also registered a school-record 21-under 267 in the opening round. Brett Hogan set the school standard for low 54-hole total to par with an 11-under 205, while Alley established a new low 36-hole total to par with a 9-under 65-70—135.
