CORPUS CHRISTI — A five-run second inning propelled UTSA to a 6-3 weather-shortened victory on Tuesday night at Chapman Field.
The Roadrunners (8-4) outhit the Islanders, 11-6.
UTSA scored five runs in the second before Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (5-8) got on the board with two runs in the third.
Another run in the fourth by the Roadrunners capped the scoring.
Trent Bowles homered for the second time this season in the fourth with a solo shot to right center.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi scored its final run of the game in the fifth after a single that was followed by a failed pick-off attempt and another base hit.
Bowles, Jason Serchay and Mason George each had two hits on the night.
Karl Craigie earned the win in 2.1 innings of work. The southpaw fanned four batters and allowed two runs on four hits.
Meanwhile, Islanders starter Chris Cooper took the loss in his three innings of action. Cooper allowed five runs (one earned) on seven hits with three strikeouts.
UTSA will return home on Wednesday to take on neighboring Incarnate Word at 6 p.m.
