Alley guides UTSA to ninth place at Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate

VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. — Bryce Alley finished 3-over-par to lead UTSA to a ninth-place finish at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, which wrapped up on Tuesday at Old Overton Golf Course (7,228 yards/par 70).

Alley wrote down an eagle on the par-four 15th and added two birdies en route to a 1-under 69 in his final round. The junior from Longview also posted a 69 in his opening round to go along with a 75 and he finished in a tie for 28th.

Zander Lozano was two shots behind Alley in a tie for 31st. The sophomore from Fair Oaks Ranch posted a pair of 73s sandwiched around a 69 in the second round to finish at five over.

J.J. Lindsey and Brett Hogan tied for 42nd (74-70-76—220) and 50th (78-71-74—223), respectively, while Dylan Godfrey rounded out the lineup in 59th (73-77-80—230).

The Roadrunners posted a 289-285-292—866 to finish ninth, just seven shots behind Baylor (859).

Alabama won the team crown with a 19-under 821 behind individual medalist Robby Shelton's 11-under 199 (66-64-69). The Crimson Tide were followed in the top five by Florida (826), Auburn (927), Florida State (833) and Arkansas (846).

UTSA will return to action next week at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic in Pearland. The two-day tournament is scheduled to tee off on Monday, Oct. 12.
