Missy Strasburg will begin her second season as an assistant coach at UTSA after previous stints at Georgia Southern, Washington and UNC Greensboro and a distinguished playing career at Gonzaga.

Last season, Strasburg helped mentor four All-Southland Conference selections, including Anka Grotle, who became the first player in program history to earn back-to-back first-team honors. Sophomore Maria Jose Rojas tallied nine goals and 22 points, which were the most by a Roadrunner since Allison Dillon netted 10 and registered 26 points in 2007, and she was named to the second team, along with freshman Liv Nyhegn. Sophomore Danielle Snyder rounded out the group as an honorable mention selection after earning three Southland Goalkeeper of the Week awards.

Since finishing her playing career at Gonzaga in 2001, Strasburg has worked as a soccer coach and sport administrator at the collegiate, high school and club levels.

She came to UTSA after one season as an assistant at Georgia Southern.

Strasburg was part of a rebuilding effort with the Eagles and she helped the team increase its win total by four games in 2010. Six players were named to the Southern Conference's all-academic squad, which was more than any other program at Georgia Southern.

Prior to her time with the Eagles, Strasburg worked on the staff at Washington and was a volunteer assistant at UNC Greensboro during the 2009 season.

She helped guide the Spartans to a 13-7 record and SoCon Championship with a 9-2 league mark.

A native of Spokane, Wash., Strasburg began her coaching career in August 2001 at Riverside High School where she spent three seasons at the helm of the varsity program. Along with her duties at the high school level, she was a head coach at the Spokane Shadow Soccer Club for nearly six years and was named program director in May 2006.

A four-year starter as a defender, Strasburg graduated in May 2001 with a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing. She continued her studies and earned a master's degree in intercollegiate athletics leadership from Washington in June 2010.
