Emily Sherman is in her fourth season as director of operations for the UTSA women’s basketball program. She is in charge of team travel, film exchange, community service outings and the squad’s student managers.

Sherman has helped put the UTSA women’s basketball name out in the community as the team has participated in various efforts across the San Antonio area. This past season, UTSA participated in Ava’s Wish for the second consecutive year and lend a helping hand at an assisted living and retirement home.

Her efforts went recognized as junior Niaga Mitchell-Cole was recognized by Conference USA with the Winter Spirit of Service Award.

Sherman came to the women’s basketball program after spending two years working in the UTSA Athletics Department. She came to the university in 2011 as an assistant to the senior woman’s administrator before working as a marketing associate in 2012.

Prior to UTSA, the Green Bay, Wis., native served as a coach with Projects Abroad in Cape Town, South Africa, during Summer 2011. During her time with Projects Abroad she set up a track & field program, while teaching physical education classes at Hyde Park Primary School. She also coached kindergarten through eighth graders in cross country, cricket, netball, rugby, soccer and track & field.

Sherman graduated from St. Norbert College in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in media communications with a minor in leadership before earning her master’s degree in higher education administration with a minor in sports management from Texas A&M in 2011.

While at Texas A&M, Sherman interned with the athletics department and 12th Man Foundation. Her responsibilities with the 12th Man Foundation included ticketing operations for the men’s and women’s tennis teams, while serving as a liaison between the squads and the athletics department compliance and marketing staffs. She managed student workers at all matches and assisted with the 2011 NCAA Tournament First and Second Rounds that were played in College Station.

From 2007-09, Sherman served as an assistant girls basketball coach at her alma mater, Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay.

Sherman lettered in basketball, softball and volleyball at Notre Dame Academy. She was named a team captain for the basketball squad as a senior and helped lead the Lady Tritons to a 21-6 mark and a runner-up finish at the Wisconsin Division II State Tournament.

She is the daughter of Mike and Karen Sherman and has four siblings: sisters, Sarah and Selena, and brothers, Matthew and Benjamin. Her father is the former head football coach at Texas A&M (2008-11) and Green Bay Packers (2000-05), while her brother-in-law, Zac Taylor, is the Miami Dolphin's assistant quarterbacks coach.
