About the Roadrunners
On the final day of the regular season, numerous matchups across the American Conference will have consequences in the conference tournament’s eight-team field and seeding – Tuesday at Park West is no different. The Roadrunners are in seventh at present, while Florida Atlantic is sixth, and a pair of teams are in striking distance in league points.

The Roadrunners look to wrap the regular season on a win and claim their third straight against the Owls. UTSA averages 1.5 goals, 13.2 shots and 6.2 on-goal shots per game, setting up an American fourth-best .467 team accuracy. At sixth in the conference and 85th nationally, sophomore Brooklyn Bailey has racked up a team-high 53 shots and has moved up to third on the UTSA single-season shots list. With her score at North Texas, redshirt sophomore Ava Jackson takes the goals lead with four, with 23 shots and three assists. Meanwhile, redshirt sophomore Leah Varela, Bailey and sophomore Sofia Peters each have three goals apiece. The current single-season record holder with nine assists, Varela ranks 15th nationally in assists and tops the Roadrunners in scoring with 15 points. Defensively, the Roadrunners are fifth in the American with a 1.29 goals-against-average, led by senior goalkeeper Jasmine Kessler, who has 62 saves and a .738 save percentage this season.

The Roadrunners are looking to add some Park West magic to Tuesday’s Fan Appreciation, as the Roadrunners have a 66.4 percent (31-13-11) win rate at home in Park West since the 2020-21 season.

About the Florida Atlantic Owls
After taking the week off last Friday, the Owls are on the road (where they are 2-4-2) and looking to snap a three-game skid. The Owls also average 1.5 goals off a league-10th 9.6 shots and 4.4 on-goal attempts – shooting .457 as a team. An All-Conference third-teamer last year, junior Hailey Santiago is one of two double-digit goal scorers in the conference with 11 – ranking 29th in the nation and 70th with 3.3 shots per game (59 total). Freshman of the Year candidate Lola Hathorne has racked up five goals of her own, while leading the team with six assists. Taking over since transferring from Florida, sophomore goalkeeper Lily Holden has a 0.92 GAA with 41 saves and an .820 save percentage.

Series history
These teams have spent quite a lot of time in opposition, as consistent challenges throughout UTSA’s time in both the American and Conference USA. The Roadrunners have earned the victory in two straight outings and hold a 4-2-4 advantage in the series. Last season, the Roadrunners got the Owls early in the season and scored in the second minute of the game in rainy conditions in Boca Raton. Though the Owls evened things up in the 59th minute, Aaliyaiah Durden put things away late with the 82nd-minute game-winner. The Roadrunners have won three of the last four. The last FAU win was in 2019 and not a single game in the entire series has been decided by more than a goal.

UP NEXT: After all of Tuesday’s games shake out, the top eight teams in the league will prep travel for the American Championships, running Nov. 8-14 at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
