Pirates extend streak as UTSA falls in straight sets

GREENVILLE, N.C. – On Sunday, UTSA Volleyball visited East Carolina for an American Conference matchup from Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. The Roadrunners suffered their first sweep of the season (17-25, 15-25, 13-25), dropping to 10-5 overall and 1-3 in league play. The Pirates (11-5, 4-0 AMER) won their fifth straight contest and remained unblemished in conference action.

FIRST SET

Three kills from Caroline Tredwell kept her side in the fight at 10-12 before ECU landed an ace amid a 10-2 run that opened up a 10-point edge. A small push cut the margin back to seven, but the visitors drew no closer. Tredwell finished the frame with half of her side’s 10 kills, but seven UTSA attack errors resulted in a hitting percentage of .091, boosting ECU to a 25-17 opening-set victory.

SECOND SET

Carol Price-Torok had already expended both of her second-frame timeouts by the time the Pirates pulled ahead 12-3 courtesy of six Navy & Orange errors. While Tredwell remained efficient, Sydney Bryant and Ally Tribe each poured in two kills of their own. Raegan Ramirez came off the bench, making her third appearance of 2026 in the back row, but ECU kept the comeback attempt at bay. Three kills and an ace to cap the stanza sent the match to a third set by a score of 25-15.

THIRD SET

Isabella Arroyave’s second kill of the early stages brought about a 4-4 tie, but a trio of errors and another ECU ace pushed the hosts ahead 11-6 into a timeout. After a termination from Tribe, UTSA would not cut the deficit within five the rest of the way. Six errors and three missed serves proved costly as the Pirates mashed .542 en route to a 25-13 win to close out the match.
