Traylor, four Roadrunners earn spots on Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Midseason Team

LEWISVILLE, Texas — UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor and four Roadrunners earned spots on the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Midseason All-Texas Team.

Traylor was chosen as the publication’s Midseason All-Texas Coach of the Year and linebacker Brandon Tucker landed on the All-Texas First Team, while defensive lineman Jeremiah Bailey, running back Will Henderson III and offensive lineman Deandre Marshall were named to the second team. The complete team can be found online at davecampbells.com.

Traylor has guided UTSA to its best eight-game start since 2021, as the Roadrunners are 7-1 after a 42-19 road triumph over Tulane last Saturday in New Orleans. UTSA also sits atop the American Conference standings at 4-0, its best start to league play since 2023. The Roadrunners are 4-0 at home and 3-1 on the road this season with the only setback to then-No. 1 Texas on Sept. 19.

Tucker leads UTSA with 56 total tackles and 25 solo stops this season. A product of DeSoto High School, he also has tallied 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, three quarterback hurries and two pass breakups through eight games. He has logged a pair of double-digit tackle outings with a season-high 13 in the 31-26 win at Texas State on Sept. 12 and 11 versus Texas the following week.

Bailey has emerged as one of the leaders on the defense in his first year with the Roadrunners. The Smyrna, Tennessee, native has registered 21 total tackles, eight unassisted stops, 3.5 TFLs, one sack, seven QB hurries and a PBU in eight contests. He turned in a season-high 2.5 tackles behind the line, including a sack, in the 16-14 road victory over Rice.

Henderson leads the UTSA ground game with 664 rushing yards through eight games this season. The Gilmer, Texas, native has scored five rushing touchdowns and is averaging 6.1 yards per carry while also owning 14 receptions for 82 yards. He has topped the century mark twice this year, rushing for 101 in the 45-16 season-opening win over UTRGV and going for 102 in the 42-19 victory at Tulane.

Marshall is one of the leaders on an experienced offensive line that has paved the way for a balanced attack this season. A redshirt senior from San Antonio Central Catholic High School, he has appeared in all eight games and started the last six at right tackle. He has helped the Roadrunners rack up 3,274 yards of offense so far — 1,795 passing and 1,479 rushing — good for an average of 409.3 total yards per game.

The Roadrunners will return to action next Thursday, Nov. 5, against Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Florida. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. CT from Flagler Credit Union Stadium and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
