HOUSTON – On Friday, UTSA Volleyball visited Houston for the second day of the 2026 Flo Hyman Classic from Fertitta Center. The Roadrunners won their seventh straight match, toppling the Cougars in four sets (25-21, 25-18, 21-25, 25-22). With the win, Carol Price-Torok’s bunch improved to 8-2 overall, dropping Houston to 5-4 on the campaign.
UTSA secured its first Power Four win since 2018 and its first Big 12 victory since 2016. Sydney Bryant and Isabella Arroyave led the way at the net, each tallying 12 kills in the triumph. As a group, the visitors hit .320 on Friday, climbing above .300 for the fifth time in their past six contests.

FIRST SET
Brooke Elliott got to work early, posting a perfect opening frame with five kills on as many swings. While her squad trailed early on, a 7-2 burst saw six Houston miscues that left the ‘Runners ahead 15-11 at the media timeout. Sydney Bryant found her groove with four terminations, maintaining a four-point cushion down the stretch. Alyssa Manitzas racked up five first-frame digs before Elliott capped things off at 25-21.
SECOND SET
Isabella Arroyave got things started with an ace before two Ally Tribe kills put UTSA in front 8-4. An ensuing dump from setter Valeria Ortiz swelled the margin to 11-5 before another perfect serve from Arroyave helped keep the lead at six into the media stoppage. Down the stretch, Caroline Tredwell and Sydney Bryant combined for the final four kills of set two, cruising ahead 2-0 by a 25-18 margin.
THIRD SET
Despite hitting exactly .400 in the other three frames, UTSA’s offense struggled in the third to the tune of a .132 clip. Six attack errors and three missed serves proved costly as the Roadrunners failed to take a lead after 1-1. Houston’s six combined blocks and aces made the difference as the Cougars took their only set by a 25-21 score.
FOURTH SET
Sydney Bryant once again led the way at the net while Manitzas and Arroyave each added four digs to their ledger. Megan Hawkins added eight of her 21 assists as the Navy & Orange combined to hit .481. A stanza with 10 ties and three lead changes entered a stalemate at 22 all before two Houston miscues gave Arroyave a match-sealing kill at 25-22.
NUMBERS OF NOTE
- UTSA’s seven-match winning streak is its longest since taking nine straight in 2016.
- A day after her first career double-double, Isabella Arroyave notched 12 kills and eight digs on a .310 hitting percentage.
- Starting libero Alyssa Manitzas was the lone visitor to reach double digits in digs, tallying 15 against the Cougars.
