UTSA falls to East Carolina in regular season finale

GREENVILLE, N.C.— The UTSA softball team suffered a 5-2 defeat at the hands of East Carolina in an American Conference regular season finale on Sunday at Joyner Family Stadium.

The Roadrunners (23-32, 11-16 American) fell to the Pirates (32-24, 16-11 American) as freshman Aubrey Flores (1-2) was pegged with the loss, while Julia Apostolakos (17-11) earned the win and Sydney Rainford (2) picked up a save.

Sophomore Reagan Stoudt was solid for UTSA in relief, allowing just one earned run and scattering three hits over 6.0 frames. Senior Caton Letbetter and sophomore Skylar Rucker each drove in runs for the squad.

ECU started off hot, putting up three runs in the bottom of the first, and UTSA got one back in the top of the second on a fielder's choice RBI by Letbetter that knocked in redshirt sophomore Makayla Madrid.

UTSA got another back in the fourth, as Mundine singled and later came around on a base knock for Rucker that saw a 3-2 score line.

The Pirates added two insurance runs in the fifth following a Roadrunner miscue, and UTSA was unable to spark a comeback, falling 5-2.

UTSA will now turn its attention towards the 2026 American Conference Softball Championship, with the event spanning May 6-9 at Joyner Family Stadium in Greenville, North Carolina.
