SAN ANTONIO—The UTSA softball team will take a trip to The Sunshine State, where a three-game American Conference series awaits against Florida Atlantic, spanning Friday through Sunday.
The Roadrunners (19-15, 7-2 American) are fresh off a 6-4 midweek victory over Prairie View A&M and will look to keep the momentum going against FAU. UTSA didn’t allow an earned run in the contest, as sophomore Reagan Stoudt, classmate Kaylie Olivarez, redshirt junior Madison Collins, and junior Meredith Schmitt all appeared in the circle. At the plate, redshirt sophomore Makayla Madrid was 3-for-3 with an RBI, as senior Madison Lenton and sophomore Sabrina Wick joined her in logging multiple hits. Along with Madrid and Lenton, freshman Brookelynn Meador and sophomore Skylar Rucker drove in runs.
UTSA enters the weekend leading the American in batting average at .322, and hits with 294. Nationally, the Roadrunners have turned 19 double plays for the ninth-most, and their hits total ranks 23rd.
Individually, freshman Arlette Hernandez checks in at 11th on the NCAA games started leader board with 17, and is 15th in complete games, twirling nine, and in innings pitched at 102.2. She’s fanned 96 for the 26th highest total across the country, and 11 wins are 23rd. Rucker sits atop the conference with nine stolen bases, and Wick has 44 hits to pace the American.
The Owls (22-11, 4-5 American) are seventh nationally with a fielding percentage of .982, and they’ve been dominant in the circle with a 1.32 WHIP, slotting them 34th.
Autumn Courtney leads the way in the circle, with an 11-5 record and a 2.45 ERA. Also starring for FAU, Ainsley Lambert has six saves that rank her second in the NCAA, and Makenna Lee is 5-1 on the season.
At the plate, Bella Foran owns a .414 batting average, with Lily Holtie not far behind at .407 and Jesiana Mora at .402. Holtie paces the squad with 28 RBIs across the campaign, and Kylie Hammonds has launched nine home runs.
