SAN ANTONIO— The UTSA women’s basketball team topped Temple, 52-43, in American Conference action at the Convocation Center on Tuesday.

The Roadrunners (12-11, 7-5 American) bested the Owls (10-13, 4-7 American), as senior Cheyenne Rowe posted a game-high 26 points with 11 rebounds. After a back-and-forth start to the first quarter, a late spurt saw a 17-13 Owl lead entering the second.

Temple increased its advantage to six, but eight consecutive points by Rowe handed UTSA a 21-19 edge. The Owls tickled the twine before the half hit its close with the game tied, 21-21.

The battle raged on with back-to-back makes for Hammonds, issuing a 28-24 Roadrunner edge, but a later stretch had the game deadlocked at 32. Bean found Rowe for a bucket before the quarter hit its close with UTSA up, 34-32.

The Roadrunners came out firing in the fourth, with an 8-2 surge affording the squad a 44-34 advantage, and from there, UTSA never looked back, cruising to a 52-43 victory.
