UTSA to take on Houston

The Roadrunners and Cougars will battle on Saturday at 7 p.m.

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team is set to face off against Houston on Saturday, with a 7 p.m. tipoff at the Fertitta Center in the Space City.

The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Matt Pedersen (play-by-play), Jordan Lewis (analyst) and Nicole Beckelman (reporter) on the call. Neal Raphael will deliver all the action on the radio in the greater San Antonio area on The Bull 93.3 FM and worldwide on the iHeartRadio app.

The Roadrunners (0-1, 0-0 American) are looking for their first victory of the campaign, after falling to Texas Tech, 79-52, in the season opener. Junior Idara Udo provided a bright spot, logging a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Sophomore Damara Allen and freshman Adriana Robles joined her in posting double-digit points, with Allen charting 12 and Robles 10 in her collegiate debut. Senior Cheyenne Rowe hauled in seven boards, helping UTSA outrebound the opposition, 43-36. In addition to Robles, newcomer Sanaa Bean and junior Jayda Holiman each made their Roadrunner debut. Robles and sophomore Mia Hammonds each made their first career start.

The Cougars (1-0, 0-0 Big 12) opened their campaign with a 76-59 win over UT Arlington, with five different squad members scoring double figures. Amirah Abdur-Rahim paced Houston with 16 points, while Briana Peguero tallied 14 and Jade Jones finished one rebound shy of a double-double, scoring 13. Rounding out the group, TK Pitts registered 12 and Kayla King 11.
