IRVING, Texas – For the first time in the 2025-26 season, a UTSA men’s basketball player has been selected for weekly conference honors, as officials from the American Conference announced on Monday that Kaidon Rayfield has been named American Freshman of the Week.
Rayfield (Forward, Oklahoma City) helped lead the Roadrunners to their second consecutive victory, registering his second double-double of the year in the win over Southwestern Christian last week. Rayfield scored 10 points of 40 percent shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds, including four on the offensive glass. In addition, he recorded an assist and a steal in downing the Eagles. Rayfield ranks 51st nationally in double-doubles, 64th in rebounds per game (8.8) and 23rd in offensive rebounds per game (4.0).
Rayfield and the Roadrunners are set to open tournament action at the Jacksonville Classic presented by JustPlay Solutions at 8 p.m. CT on Monday night against Abilene Christian, followed on Tuesday by an 8 p.m. Jax Classic matchup with Georgia Southern. On Sunday, UTSA will host South Alabama at the Convocation Center.
