IRVING, Texas – Four members of the UTSA soccer team have been named to the 2025 American All-Conference teams, officials from the league office announced on Sunday. Defender Kameron Kloza was selected to the conference’s first team as the first Roadrunner to receive such accolades since the 2022 championship season. Goalkeeper Jasmine Kessler was named to the second team, Zoё May was named to the third team and forward Brooklyn Bailey to the All-Freshman team. The Roadrunners’ first American Championships appearance is set for Monday, Nov. 3, facing UAB in the quarterfinal. The Roadrunners earned the program’s highest historic conference finish in a tie for third.
“I’m incredibly proud of our players for earning all-conference recognition and helping set a new standard for this program,” head coach Derek Pittman said. “To have four Roadrunners honored speaks to the depth, consistency and belief within our team this season. Finishing tied for third in such a competitive league and making school history with these awards is a reflection of the hard work our players and staff have put in all year.”
A redshirt senior, Kloza (San Antonio, Texas) was pivotal for a UTSA defense that ranked second in the American in goals-against-average at 0.78 (37th NCAA) and allowed just 4.8 shots on goal per game. Kloza took 17 shots, largely as a header off set pieces, scoring the gamewinner in the historic program-first victory over South Florida. She also notched two assists. Playing all 18 games with 13 starts, Kloza won 73 percent of her aerial duels, a league-high performance, and 65 percent of her overall duels. Among the league leaders in the stat, she collected 72 interceptions on the year. Kloza is the first UTSA player to earn American Conference First Team laurels, and the first with first-team conference honors since Anna. Sutter in 2022.
Named to the second team, the Roadrunners’ junior keeper, Kessler (Spring, Texas) started all 18 games with the second-most minutes in goal among American Goalkeepers (1540:50) – 79th nationally. Kessler spent over six weeks leading the conference and ranks second (56th NCAA) with a 0.82 GAA, also topping the conference (49th NCAA) with an .829 save percentage as well as second in the American with five shutouts. This season, she set the school’s GK starts (47), shutouts (15) and draws (11) records. Kessler ranks second in the conference with 68 saves and fifth at 3.78 saves per game. This is her second American honor after earning a spot on the 2023 All-Freshman Team.
The senior defensive midfielder from Ottawa, Ontario, May was named to the third team and leads the Roadrunners with five goals on a team-leading .556 shot on goal percentage and 15 on-target shots. She also logged two assists on the year and played a huge role in UTSA’s stalwart defensive efforts, making 67 interceptions and 177 recoveries – 45 percent coming in the opposing half. On the season, May maintained a 65 percent passing accuracy. May was one of three Roadrunners to start all 18 games and led field players with 1,456 minutes, going the full 90 minutes in three outings and exceeding 80 minutes 12 times.
UTSA’s third all-freshman honoree since joining the American, Spring, Texas, rookie Bailey also started all 18 games, leading the Roadrunners with five assists along with one goal. Bailey topped the Roadrunners with 32 shots in 1,153 minutes, notching 10 on-goal shots. On top of being UTSA’s biggest shooting threat, Bailey made 39 interceptions, 61 recoveries (58 percent in the opposing half) and had 65 percent passing accuracy. Bailey goes into the American Championships tied for fourth in the UTSA freshman assists records.
The Roadrunners are slated to open American Conference Championships action on Monday, Nov. 3, at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Set for a 4 p.m. CT kickoff, the fifth-seeded Roadrunners will take on fourth-seeded UAB in the first conference tournament appearance since 2022 and the first program appearance since joining the American.
