UTSA falls to South Florida in final regular-season match

TAMPA, Fla. – UTSA (13-14,6-10) falls to South Florida (16-11, 12-4) 3-1 (25-12, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23) on Sunday, Nov. 16 at The Corral in Tampa, Fla. The Roadrunners are set to compete in the American Conference Championship on Nov. 21 in Tampa, Fla.

Set One
South Florida took an early lead in the first set as they went on a 7-1 scoring run to go up 9-3. South Florida then went on a 10-point scoring run to go up 19-6 over the Roadrunners. South Florida managed to take the set, winning 25-12.

Set Two
After the Roadrunners scored the first point of the second set, USF went on a seven-point run. The Roadrunners went on a three-point scoring run to cut the South Florida lead to one point. The Roadrunners then went on a four-point run to take the 12-11 lead. South Florida won the race to 20 on a four-point scoring run, as they led 20-16. UTSA then went on a six-point scoring run to take the 22-20 lead. The Roadrunners managed to close it out, winning 25-23.

Set Three
The Roadrunners found themselves in a back-and-forth fight as they were leading the third set by three, 12-9. South Florida mounted a comeback as they went up 17-15. South Florida was leading by two when they won the race to 20. They managed to win the set 25-23.

Set Four
The fourth set was yet another battle as both teams traded blows. The fourth set was tied at 14-14. South Florida managed to win the race to 20, leading the Roadrunners by three. UTSA made an effort at a comeback but fell short as they lost 25-23.

Notes
- Gigi Mason recorded her eighth double-digit kill match of her career with 23 kills, which also ties her career high.
- Giada Obregon had 14 kills for her 18th double-digit dig match of her career.
