SAN ANTONIO – In addition to the 18-game American Conference slate and the five previously announced road games, second-year head coach Austin Claunch announced on Wednesday the remainder of the 2025-26 UTSA men’s basketball schedule. Adding five more home games at the Convocation Center and two more road contests, the Roadrunners will play 30 games in the final 2025-26 campaign.
UTSA’s opening date will host College of Biblical Studies for the first time to kick off the 50th season at the Convocation Center, setting the Roadrunners’ official 2025-26 tipoff for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The NCCAA-member Ambassadors went 6-17 last season. UTSA will round out the week at home with a 12:30 p.m. tipoff on Friday, Nov. 7 first-ever meeting with SIUE (SIU Edwardsville) – going back-to-back with UTSA volleyball’s American Conference matchup against Temple. An early challenge for the Roadrunners, the Cougars went 22-12 as runner-up in the Ohio Valley Conference, winning the OVC Tournament and moving on to face Houston in Wichita, Kansas, during the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
UTSA will follow up with a short road trip to San Marcos to face Texas State for the first time in two years at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Strahan Arena. In the 63rd edition of the series, the Roadrunners will square off with a Bobcats squad that went 16-16 a year ago. The next road date is far from the home court, as UTSA heads west to face Summit League foe Denver at 5 p.m. CT (4 p.m. MT) at Hamilton Gymnasium on Saturday, Nov. 15. The Pioneers went 11-21 last season and these teams will meet for the first time since 2021.
Back home at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18, UTSA will host Bryant, Oklahoma’s Southwestern Christian out of the NAIA’s Sooner Athletic Conference, with the Roadrunners hosting a local Education Day at the Convo.
Following neutral-site dates in Jacksonville, Florida, against Georgia Southern and Abilene Christian, Nov. 24-26, in the Jacksonville Classic, UTSA returns from Thanksgiving with a 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 30 tipoff against South Alabama for the first meeting between these teams. Coached by Richie Riley, who first hired Claunch as an assistant at Nicholls State, the Jaguars were 2024-25 Sun Belt Co-Champions and earned a 21-11 record a year ago.
Early December will see the Roadrunners sweep through away dates at power conference programs, Dec. 7 at No. 15 Alabama, Dec. 13 at Colorado and Dec. 17 at USC. The final home date of 2025 brings Western Athletic Conference (WAC) opposition from Seattle to the Convocation Center for the first time since 2013, hosting the Redhawks at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22. SU went 14-18 last season.
The first opportunity to get a glimpse of the Roadrunners’ squad will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16 at the Convocation Center, as UTSA men’s and women’s basketball host Rowdy Jam – featuring a special performance by Cupid, The Linedance King. Admission is free and the event is open to the public. Rowdy Jam will feature an introduction to the UTSA Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams, appearances by Cheer, Rowdy and the Spirit of San Antonio Band, and a performance by Cupid.
Before the season officially gets under way, fans can get a preview of the 2025-26 squad with a locally focused exhibition, scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, in the San Antonio Challenge at the Convocation Center. The men’s team will face off with Incarnate Word after the UTSA women’s basketball team plays Texas A&M San Antonio at 1 p.m.
UTSA’s American Conference slate begins on New Year’s Eve against Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, with the regular season finale set for March 8 in Houston against Rice.
Beginning this season, the 2026 American Men’s Basketball Championship will feature the top 10 teams in a new five-day bracket format. The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will advance directly to the semifinals, while the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds will maintain BYEs to the quarterfinals. The No. 5 and No. 6 seeds will receive BYEs to the second round.
The 2026 Championship will run Wednesday through Sunday, March 11-15 at the Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama.
