FORT WORTH — Three Roadrunners advance to the round of 16 in the ITA D1 Women’s Texas Regional Championships on Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Freshman Giuliana Giardina took down Elena Daskalova from Texas Tech in her first match of the day. She then defeated Hitakamya Narwal Singh from UTRGV 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the round of 32. She is now set to compete against Duru Kuscu out of Tarleton State on Friday, Oct. 10.
Transfer Ayra Salim won her first round of the event 6-0, 7-5, but unfortunately fell to Addison Yang Comiskey out of SMU. Valeria Sanchez dominated in her first two matches as she did not lose a single set, winning 6-1, 6-3, and 6-0, 6-1.
Aoka Nagasawa defeated Caroline Clark out of TCU 6-2, 6-0, and Emily Niers 6-1, 6-1 out of Texas State to move on to the round of 32 to face off against her teammate, Sanchez. Laia Tarazona Peyro won her first match but fell in the round of 32.
