About the Roadrunners
The Roadrunners are riding a two-game win streak and are fourth in the American standings heading into conference play this week at FAU. UTSA pulled out a 1-0 victory over UIW last Thursday in the Hometown Showdown – staying perfect in the series at 3-0. On Sunday, the Roadrunners battled the elements in a downpour, along with the East Texas A&M Lions, victorious against both with a 3-0 win to close non-conference play.

For their efforts, forward Kamryn Watson scored the gamewinner against UIW and was named the American Conference Freshman of the Week, while senior midfielder Zoё May and redshirt senior defender both received American weekly Honorable Mention. May scored in the 75th minute against the Lions with the assist from Kloza’s free kick service. May also served up her own assist for Watson against the Cardinals. The UTSA defense was rock solid last week, securing the fifth and sixth shutouts of the year while allowing just three shots on goal between the two foes.

Through non-conference action, the Roadrunners have maintained their elite defensive status at the national level, heading into the FAU matchup ranked 10th in the NCAA with a 0.25 goals-against-average, eighth at a .935 save percentage and 11th in shutout percentage at .750. UTSA leads the American in each stat category. Starting 38 consecutive games between the pipes for the Roadrunners, junior Jasmine Kessler is 13th in the NCAA at a 0.28 GAA, 13th with a .931 save percentage and an NCAA-eighth four solo shutouts – pacing the American in each with a league-high 27 saves.

About the Florida Atlantic Owls
Sitting at 10th in the American standings in Patrick Baker’s 13th season leading the program, the Owls are 2-5-1 but have won two of their last three outings – defeating Lipscomb (2-1) and Jacksonville (3-2) before falling to seventh-ranked Florida State (0-5). The Owls average 1.12 goals off 7.0 shots per game, paced by graduate student forward Sloane Young with three goals and sophomore forward Hailey Santiago with two. The Owls have split time in goal between Megan Hogate and Ashley Small with a 2.67 team GAA and a .604 save percentage.

Series history
Consistent opposition throughout UTSA’s time in Conference USA and the American, the Roadrunners have the slight edge with a 3-2-4 series lead. The last meeting between these teams on Halloween 2024 saw the Roadrunners claim a 2-1 season-ending victory at Park West, with seniors Jordyn Hyland (67’) and Sasjah Dade (83’) logging two late goals to complete the comeback. The Roadrunners have won two of the last three, including the 3-2 double-overtime win to claim the 2022 CUSA Tournament title. The last time in Boca Raton ended in a 1-1 draw and UTSA’s last win at FAU was a 1-0 besting on Sept. 27, 2015.

UP NEXT: The Roadrunners welcome their first BYE of the season on Sunday and return to action next Thursday at home against North Texas on Sept. 18, when UTSA will celebrate the program’s 20th season and are aiming to break the program’s all-time attendance record of 1,397 set against Central Arkansas in 2023.
