Bexar County Recognizes UTSA Baseball Program

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Commissioner’s Court on Tuesday issued a proclamation recognizing the successes of the 2025 UTSA Baseball program, which recorded a historic season that included a school-record 47 victories, the American Conference regular-season championship, an NCAA Super Regional appearance and the first top-10 NCAA finish by any UTSA sport.

The proclamation was made by Precinct 3 Commissioner Grant Moody. He was joined by County Judge Peter Sakai, Precinct 1 Commissioner Rebeca Clay-Flores, Precinct 2 Commissioner Justin Rodriguez and Precinct 4 Commissioner Tommy Calvert to commemorate the proclamation.

UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Lisa Campos, Associate Vice President for Community & Government Relations Albert Carrisalez and Head Baseball Coach Pat Hallmark represented UTSA, along with student-athletes from the 2025 UTSA Baseball team and members of the UTSA Athletics staff.

The proclamation reads:

WHEREAS, The UTSA Baseball team recorded the best season in program history in 2025, winning a program-record 47 games. The Roadrunners claimed the 2025 American Conference Regular-Season Championship for the first time in school history; and

WHEREAS, The Roadrunners won their first-ever postseason game, defeating Kansas State on May 30, before beating No. 2 Texas twice over the next two days in Austin to claim the NCAA Austin Regional Championship; and

WHEREAS, UTSA advanced to the NCAA Super Regional for the first time in program history, notching the first top-10 NCAA finish in any sport for the Roadrunners; and 

WHEREAS, Coach Pat Hallmark, in his sixth season leading the Roadrunners, was named the 2025 American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year; and

WHEREAS, UTSA student-athletes were recognized among the best in The American, as Mason Lytle was named the Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, Drew Detlefsen earned Newcomer Position Player of the Year accolades and James Taussig was honored as The American Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year; and

WHEREAS, The San Antonio community embraced the UTSA Baseball team, helping it set a single-game Roadrunner Field attendance record of 1,457 fans to the game against Texas State on March 25.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Bexar County Commissioners Court hereby recognizes and proclaims the great successes of the 2025 UTSA Baseball Team.
