Kessler becomes UTSA career recordholder in two stats

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA junior goalkeeper Jasmine Kessler registered her third clean sheet of the season in Sunday’s scoreless draw at Colorado College. That performance marked her 13th career shutout, moving to the top of the UTSA leaderboard for the stat in the all-time records. Kessler also secured the most career goalkeeper ties in school history on Sunday.

Tying Dacia Webb (2009-11) and Jil Schneider (2019-22) at 12 via the Lamar win on Aug. 24 at Park West, Kessler notched five saves against Colorado College to collect the clean sheet. Registering her eighth career draw, Kessler moved ahead of Schneider for ties on the result.

“What Jasmine Kessler has accomplished – setting the UTSA all-time record for solo shutouts in only her junior season—is nothing short of extraordinary,” eighth-year head coach Derek Pittman said. “She’s not just showing her elite talent, she’s redefining excellence and consistency in her position. We are grateful and lucky to have a goalkeeper of her abilities standing tall in goal for our program.”

Originally from Spring, Texas, Kessler has started 36 consecutive games for the Roadrunners dating back to the 2023 season, playing in over 3,159 minutes of action, registering a 0.72 goals-against-average, which currently leads the UTSA records in that stat. Ranking in the career top 10 of both stats, she has a career .832 save percentage on 124 total saves, holding a record so far of 14-14-8.

For Kessler and the Roadrunners, the week brings the final stretch of non-conference action for the Roadrunners. UTSA will next take the field on Sept. 4 with the Hometown Showdown against UIW at Toyota Field for Youth Night at SAFC. On Sunday, the Roadrunners will face East Texas A&M (formerly Texas A&M-Commerce) at Park West for Family Day/Meep Meep Peeps Day.
