UTSA wraps road swing at Colorado College on Sunday

The Roadrunners and Tigers will kick off at 2 p.m. CDT on Sunday at Stewart Field and the game will be streamed live on Mountain West Network.

About the Roadrunners
The Colorado State Rams broke up a two-game win streak for the Roadrunners on Thursday night in UTSA’s first road contest of the year, as Olivia Fouts worked with soggy field conditions to break through for a goal with just 1:56 elapsed. The Roadrunners held off much more from the Rams but got denied on six on-target shots of their own in the 1-0 setback.

Junior goalkeeper Jasmine Kessler is the reigning American Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, while senior midfielder May earned American weekly Honorable Mention for her scoring and play toward UTSA defense giving just eight on-target shots and no goals for the week. Kessler had eight saves in two shutout wins last week at Park West.

Typical for a Derek Pittman-coached team, Kessler is leading a UTSA defense that ranks 24th nationally on a conference-leading 0.40 GAA, 18th on an American-high .913 save percentage and is 41st nationally with a .600 shutout percentage – leading the American as well. Against Lamar, Kessler tied UTSA’s record with her 12th career solo shutout and is 28th nationally in save percentage (.913) and 35th in GAA (0.42), topping the American in both stats. May, freshman Brooklyn Bailey and redshirt sophomore Aaliyaiah Durden each have a goal to pace UTSA. Junior Michelle Polo leads the team with 10 shots, while redshirt freshman Leah Varela and Izzy Lane each have nine attempts apiece. The Roadrunners average 13.2 shots per game with a .424 SOG percentage.

About the Colorado College Tigers
A Mountain West Conference affiliate member since 2014, Colorado College is coming off an 8-9-3 result in 2024 and have opened the 2025 season at 2-1-1 in the fourth season under Keri Sanchez. Last year was the most wins for the program since 2019 and like UTSA the Tigers were dangerous at home (7-1-3). So far, it’s been tight finishes for CC, which just returned from back-to-back dates in Buffalo with a 1-1 road swing. Taking Thursday off while the Roadrunners faced the Rams, Colorado College will be playing just its second home game of the year.

So far, CC is averaging 11.2 shots per game with a .500 on-goal percentage. All four of the Tigers’ goals belong to junior midfielder Kendall Memoly, a brace against New Mexico State and Canisius. Supporting her play, Holy Cross transfer Nadia Cassamajor has two assists, while sophomore Jessica Anderson and junior Tyler Rose each have registered one. Memoly is the clear shots leader at 10, while sophomore forward Finley Schoenbeck has nine and Cassamajor has five. In goal, third-year junior Regan Wallace has 41 games of experience and all the minutes this season. Wallace has allowed just two goals for a 0.50 GAA and two shutouts, racking up 20 saves on a .909 save percentage. Last season, she notched a 1.31 GAA with 3.8 spg and a .753 save percentage.

Series history
UTSA is facing Colorado College for the second time overall and the first since 2013. The Oct. 20, 2013 meeting at Park West ended in a double-overtime scoreless draw.

UP NEXT:  UTSA will next play in San Antonio on Thursday, Sept. 4 with the Hometown Showdown against UIW at Toyota Field. On Sunday, the Roadrunners will wrap up the week and the non-conference slate with East Texas A&M (formerly Texas A&M-Commerce) coming to Park West for Family Day/Meep Meep Peeps Day.
