IRVING, Texas – UTSA soccer registered the Roadrunners’ first American Conference weekly honor of the 2025-26 academic year for any sport on Monday, as officials from the conference office announced that Jasmine Kessler has been named American Goalkeeper of the Week, while Zoë May received Honorable Mention following the Roadrunners’ two-victory week.
The junior from Spring, Texas, Kessler posted her 33rd career appearance in the net for UTSA on Sunday, notching one solo clean sheet and another combined shutout to lead UTSA to victories over St. Mary’s and Lamar last week. Kessler locked up eight saves for a 1.00 save percentage, which shoots her to the top of the American's saves board (19), season save percentage (.950) and goals-against-average (0.27). Kessler ranks 30th nationally in GAA, 28th in save percentage, 25th in saves and 10th in shutouts. Against Lamar, Kessler fended off Annika Kassenbrock's penalty kick with :01 on the clock to secure the 1-0 UTSA win - clinching her 12th shutout to tie Dacia Webb and Jil Schneider for UTSA's all-time career solo shutouts record. Against Lamar, she had six stops, with two more against StMU. This is Kessler’s first career major weekly honor, having received Honorable Mention once in each of the last two seasons.
A senior defender from Ontario, Canada, May proved to be the hero of the Lamar win, registering an 81st-minute penalty kick score for her first career gamewinner. May went .500 on-goal this week with four shots and two on-target attempts, aiding Kessler on the Roadrunners’ back line to allowing no goals with just eight opponent on-target shots. This is May’s first career honor with the Roadrunners.
UTSA will hit the road for the first time in the 2025 campaign this week, traveling to the Centennial State for a pair of games at Mountain West foes. UTSA will travel to Fort Collins to meet Colorado State on Thursday night, then wrap the trip in Colorado Springs at Colorado College on Sunday for the Roadrunners’ first day game. UTSA will next play in San Antonio on Sept. 4 with the Hometown Showdown against UIW at Toyota Field.
