Roadrunners add grad transfer Borden to 2025-26 frontcourt

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA men’s basketball coach Austin Claunch has added more size to the post for 2025-26, announcing the Roadrunners have signed the sixth transfer of the summer in Duke graduate transfer Stanley Borden for Claunch’s second season leading the UTSA program.

“Stanley provides excellent size and mobility for our bigs,” Claunch said. “He’s got touch around the rim and from three, and you can’t downplay the caliber of players, coaches and basketball he’s been around. He has contributed to winning behind the scenes for two Final Fours and three conference championships. He’s very driven and we’re expecting him to step up and help us win some games this year.”

Coming to the Roadrunners in July at 7-foot and 240 pounds, Borden was a member of the Duke Blue Devils roster for the past four seasons after arriving in Durham from Istanbul, Turkey. The last player still active to have played for Hall of Famer Mike Krzyzewski, Borden is a four-time Duke letterwinner. Borden also holds dual citizenship and played for the Portuguese U20 National Team during the 2021 FIBA European Group A Challenger, averaging 7.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals. During his high school years, he played two seasons for the Besiktas J.K. U18 team and helped Istanbul International Community School to its first CEESA (Central-Eastern European Schools Association) Division A Championship. He earned his undergraduate degree this spring in computer science with minors in computational biology and English, entering UTSA as a graduate transfer.
