Two Roadrunners selected in the 2025 MLB Draft

SAN ANTONIO – Zach Royse was selected in the seventh round by the Atlanta Braves and Braylon Owens was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 10th round of the 2025 MLB Draft on Monday, July 14.

Royse was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the seventh round as the 217th overall pick. He became the 43rd Roadrunner to be selected in the MLB Draft. Royse is the 19th UTSA pitcher to be selected in the MLB draft, with the last Roadrunner being Simon Miller, who the Cincinnati Reds drafted. Royse is also just the second Roadrunner to be drafted by the Braves.

Owens was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 10th round as the 305th overall pick. He is the 44th Roadrunner to be picked in the MLB Draft and the second UTSA student-athlete to be selected in the 2025 MLB Draft. Owens is the third Roadrunner to be drafted by the Brewers, joining the likes of Ryan Arevalos, who went in round 30 and Ryan Crew who went in round 40.
