TAMPA, Fla. — UTSA takes down South Florida 11-5, in a comeback victory on Friday, May 2 at USF Baseball Stadium in Tampa, Fla.

In the top of the second, Drew Detlefsen singled to put the first runner aboard. James Taussig advanced Detlefsen to second on a single of his own. The nine-hole hitter, Cade Sadler, picked up his first double of the year to score Detlefsen, giving UTSA a 1-0 lead.
USF took the lead in the second on a two-run single; both runs were unearned due to an error earlier in the inning. In the third, the Bulls added two more runs, one on a ground out, the other a double to take a 4-1 lead.
Nathan Hodge led off the fourth with a perfectly placed bunt. Detlefsen then got his 13th homer of the year with a deep fly to center field to put the Roadrunners within one going into the bottom of the fourth.
USF extended their lead to 5-3 as they were able to score on a sacrifice fly in the sixth. In the top of the seventh, Sadler drew a walk to lead off the inning before being replaced on first for Diego Diaz. Stucky singled to right field to put Diaz 90 feet away. A walk from Ty Hodge loaded the bases.
Jordan Ballin came in to hit for Garrett Gruell, and the first pitch he saw was wild, which allowed Diaz to score. Ballin was hit by the pitch to load the bases once again for UTSA. Caden Miller was called upon to deliver as a pinch hitter, and he did as he blasted his seventh homer of the year, first since Mar. 28, to put UTSA ahead 8-5.
In the top of the ninth, T. Hodge led off the inning with a double. Ballin was hit by the pitch for the second time in the game. Norris McClure laid down a perfect bunt to load the bases. Miller drew a walk to drive in his fifth RBI of the game. With bases still loaded, Taussig hit a two-RBI single to left field to score both McClure and Miller, giving UTSA an 11-5 lead.
Zach Royse threw six innings in his start, tossing one strikeout, allowing just eight hits to earn his seventh win of the season. Robert Orloski came into the game in the bottom of the seventh, tossing three hitless innings and striking out three batters.
