UTSA falls in the American Athletic Conference Championship

CLEARWATER, Fla. — UTSA falls 6-3 to the Tulane Green Wave in the semifinals of the American Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday, May 24 at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, Fla.

BASICS:
Score: UTSA 3, Tulane 6
Records: UTSA 44-13, Tulane 33-24
Location: BayCare Ballpark
Win: Carter Benbrook (3-1) | Loss: Gunnar Brown (3-2)

Tulane was able to strike first in the first inning as they recorded three singles, one of which was an RBI single to go up 1-0 over UTSA heading into the bottom of the first. The Green Wave was able to add another run in the third on a sacrifice fly.

In the third, UTSA got two aboard thanks to back-to-back walks. Mason Lytle was able to tie the game as he reached on a throwing error by the shortstop that allowed both runners on to score. With Lytle on second, James Taussig hit a single to right field, giving way for UTSA a 3-2 lead.

Tulane managed to tie the game up once again on a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth. In the sixth, the Green Wave drove in two runs on a single to left field. They kept the scoring going as they notched one run in the seventh on a double play to shortstop Ty Hodge to go up 6-3.
