SAN ANTONIO—The UTSA softball team is set for a three-game American Athletic Conference series against North Texas, with action set to begin on Saturday at 4 p.m. inside Lovelace Stadium. The squads will then play a doubleheader Saturday starting at noon.
The Roadrunners (15-19, 2-10 The American) are fresh off a 7-1 victory over Prairie View A&M that saw freshman Reagan Stoudt earn her first collegiate win while combining with classmate Ava Eldridge, sophomore Meredith Schmitt, junior Katia Reyes, and freshman Kaylie Olivarez to toss a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
Newcomer Sabrina Wick and freshman Skylar Rucker each recorded multiple RBIs in the win, and sophomore Kalee Rochinski, Reyes and senior Camryn Robillard joined her in driving in runs.
Rochinski has been dominant behind the plate this season, with 10 runners caught stealing slotted her 18th across the NCAA, and offensively, she’s been plunked 11 times for the 11th most nationally.
The Mean Green (25-12, 7-5 The American) sit third in the AAC standings and are riding a three-game winning streak with victories over Tulsa and Abilene Christian.
They lead the league in several statistics, including double plays (20), stolen bases (60), and sacrifice flies (16). Individually, Madison Conley has racked up seven sacrifice flies, placing her seventh across the country, while Rylee Nicholson has swiped 21 steals to slot her 19th.
Cierra Simon tops the team with a .383 batting average to go with a 1.055 OPS, with Tatum Sparks and Elizabeth Moffitt not far behind at .346 AVG and .343 AVG, respectively. The staff boasts a 3.98 ERA in the circle, and Skylar Savage leads the way with 11 wins and three saves. Anneca Anderson joins her in the double-digit win club with 10.
