SAN ANTONIO — Roadrunners pick up their eleventh American Athletic Conference win of the season, defeating Tulane 13-5 on Thursday, Apr. 17 at Roadrunner Field in San Antonio, Texas.

Norris McClure got things started in the first inning by drawing a walk. Andrew Stucky then doubled off the left field wall to advance McClure all the way to third. The designated hitter, Garrett Gruell, hit a sacrifice fly to score McClure and give UTSA an early 1-0 lead.
In the second, Tulane got their first run of the game on a solo homer. Miller got things started for the Roadrunners in the second as he reached on a hit by pitch. Ty Hodge then picked up his third home run of the season to put UTSA up 3-1.
Jordan Ballin followed the homer with a single. Mason Lytle hit a single to follow Ballin’s putting two aboard. McClure hit the second homer of the inning, his second of the year, to put UTSA up 6-1.
In the top of the fourth, Tulane made the score 6-3 by hitting a two-RBI single. They then scored their fourth run of the game on a fielder’s choice.
In the bottom of the sixth, Ballin was hit by the pitch to be the first runner on the base paths. McClure then doubled to left center to advance Ballin to third. A walk from Stucky loaded the bases. Ballin was then able to score thanks to a wild pitch. Gruell was walked to load the bases once again, leading to a James Taussig triple hit down the rightfield line, scoring all three runners.
Detlefsen drew a walk and was then able to advance to second. Hodge picked up his third and fourth RBI of the game on a double down the left field line to put UTSA up 12-4.
In the seventh, Tulane got their fifth run of the game on a single to right field. UTSA matched that run in the bottom half of the inning on a Taussig sacrifice fly to score Lytle, who reached on a walk.
Zach Royse got the start and the win in tonight’s ball game as he threw six innings, striking out four batters. Jake Cothran tossed two-thirds of an inning, giving up one run and one hit. Sam Simmons closed it out for UTSA, throwing 2.1 innings, giving up just three hits with two strikeouts.

- Ballin recorded two hits for the ninth time of the season. He is now on a 10-game hit streak, the longest hit streak a Roadrunner has recorded this year.
- Ballin had eight assists in the field, the most assists for a Roadrunner in a single game this season.
