TEMPE, Ariz. – The UTSA men’s tennis team (4-7) closed out competition in the consolation bracket of Diablos College Invitational on Saturday at the Kiwanis Tennis Center. The Roadrunners suffered a 4-0 setback to the Liberty Flames (4-7) in their final match at the tournament.
The Flames’ 28th-ranked pair of Joaquim Almeida and Siwanat Auytayakul claimed the first win of the day on court one and Liberty hemmed up the doubles point with a clinching win on three. The Flames carried momentum into singles play, taking subsequent wins on six and five, before clinching on three. On court four, Enzo Vargas had the sets split and No. 103 Tiago Torres had taken the first set with a 4-3 lead in the second on the top court.
