UTSA falls to No. 20 DBU in game one of three-game series

DALLAS— The Roadrunners fall to No. 20 Dallas Baptist 14-3 in seven innings on Friday, Mar. 24 at Horner Ballpark in Dallas, Texas.

THE BASICS:

UTSA got the scoring early in the first inning as Caden Miller was able to draw a leadoff walk. The three-hole hitter, James Taussig, got himself an infield single with a throwing error committed by the DBU’s first baseman Miller, was able to come home for the first run of the ballgame. DBU took the lead from the Roadrunners in the first by hitting back-to-back solo home runs.

After a scoreless second, Broc Parmer led the inning off with a double to right center. With Parmer advancing to third on a double play ball, Taussig hit a towering home run to right center to give UTSA a 3-2 lead.

DBU then ripped off a nine-run third, hitting three home runs to score all nine. In the fourth, the Patriots added a run on a double steal, scoring the man on third.

The Patriots got two more runs on a two-RBI single in the sixth to extend their lead to 14-3. Down by eleven in the top of the seventh, the Roadrunners were unable to score a run, leading to DBU to take the first win of the series.

Coming into relief in the third inning was Gunnar Brown. He then went on to throw three innings giving up just three hits, striking out one batter. Christian Okerholm was the third Roadrunner arm, he threw one inning giving up one hit.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Taussig went 2-for-3, driving in two RBIs for his fourth multi-RBI game and third multi-hit game of the season.
- Parmer knocked two doubles in the game for his first multi-hit game of the season.
- Parmer also extended his hit streak to four games.
