Eugene, Ore. – The UTSA men’s tennis team (3-1) reeled off it’s third consecutive victory, taking a talented Denver (6-3) team to task on a neutral site at Oregon’s Student Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon, topping the Pioneers 6-1.
The Roadrunners went to work on the Pioneers early, claiming the doubles point with court two and three victories. On two, Danijal Muminovic and Enzo Vargas defeated Mark Neyelov and Connor Robb-Wilcox, 6-2, while Tiago Torres and midyear newcomer Jakub Wlodarczyk topped Samuel Rovai and Rikuto Yamaguchi, 6-1.
In singles action, Santiago Flyckt grew the Roadrunners’ advantage with a 6-2, 7-5 victory on court six over Theo Coats. Torres followed on the top flight, besting 38th-ranked Daniel Sancho Arbizu with a 6-3, 7-5 win. Vargas got the best of Robb-Wilcox again on court four, claiming a three-set victory, 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 for the clinching point. Playing through the lineup, Oskar Grzegorzewski earned a third-court win over Rovai in three sets, 7-5, 3-6, 6-1. Muminovic wrapped up the 6-1 team win with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 rally win over Yamaguchi.
