Last Time Out
The Roadrunners completed their first series sweep of the season against LIU, where they won four games, shutting out the Sharks in two of the four games played. Fighting through some cold weather, UTSA bats stayed hot all weekend as they were able to record a season-high in hits (19) and a season-high runs (15) in the third game of the series.

No Free Bags

Doubles and Jacks
The Roadrunners bats have certainly come alive early this season as freshman Caden Miller is leading the AAC in home runs with three on the year. Drew Detlefsen has five doubles through eight games, which puts him tied for the lead in the conference. Norris McClure has been a singles machine, as he has a batting average of .560, which also leads the league.

As a team, the Roadrunners rank first in hits with 90. They also have the second-best batting average (.338) in the AAC.

AAC Weekly Awards

Miller recorded seven hits, two home runs and two doubles on the week for a slugging percentage of 1.000 and is the first Roadrunner hitter to be named to the weekly honor roll.

Energy Stu
Senior catcher Andrew Stucky, whose name is pronounced STEW-key, was the inspiration for a team mantra, Energy Stu. Comes from a phrase shouted to the team to raise the energy at practice.

The Return of Malone
Former pitcher Luke Malone rejoins the Roadrunners in a different capacity as he joined the coaching staff in October 2024 as the Director of Player Development and Analytics.

Malone was a star pitcher for the Roadrunners from 2020 to 2023, earning all-conference accolades in each of his final two seasons. The right-hander finished his career with a 17-9 record, 4.45 ERA, 178 strikeouts and a pair of saves in 63 appearances that totaled 234.2 innings pitched.

Diaz started at second base for all three of the opening weekend games, being featured in both the seventh spot and eighth spot in the lineup. Orloski came into the game to relieve Conor Myles on Sunday, Feb. 16, and tossed 4.2 innings, giving up five hits and three runs but striking out six batters; Orloski was awarded the win.

Preseason AAC Rankings
After finishing 17-10 to finish second in the American Athletic Conference in 2024, their first year in the league, the Roadrunners were picked to finish fourth by the league’s coaches in 2025.

Home Grown
28 of the 38 players on the roster are from Texas, making up just shy of 75 percent of the roster. These players range from southern Texas, such as Pharr, all the way up to northern Texas, such as Mansfield. Josh Vaughn is the lone Roadrunner that calls San Antonio home.
