Roadrunners welcome Dartmouth to the UTSA Tennis Center

SAN ANTONIO – After Mother Nature found a variety of ways to bring challenges to last week’s competitions, UTSA men’s tennis (7-8) is back on the court this week and will look to get back in the win column on Friday, March 22, with Dartmouth (7-9) coming to town for the first-ever meeting at the UTSA Tennis Center.

Following along with this week’s match
In this week’s lone competition, Dartmouth will travel from Hanover, N.H. to meet the Roadrunners for the very first time on Friday, March 22 at 1 p.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center.

There will be no live video from this week’s match, but the Roadrunners will have live stats at the following link: UTSA vs. Dartmouth

Last Time Out
After needing to change venues mid-match and succumbing to the first home loss this season against Pacific, UTSA saw weather shut down Sunday’s match with Georgia State. Otherwise, the Roadrunners were riding a three-match home streak since breaking from their month-long road swing. Against the Tigers, UTSA’s Alan Magadan and Miguel Alonso each garnered singles wins. Holding the hot hand on the doubles courts, Magadan and Alonso are on a 4-0 start since a lineup switch this month, while seniors Jackson Ross and Garrett Skelly are 7-3 as the most consistent tandem this season. On the singles courts, Alonso is 9-1 this season with the top record, taking in most of his wins on court six. Just behind on court four, junior Danijal Muminovic is 8-5.

On the Slate this Week
One of the older colleges the Roadrunners will see on a schedule, Dartmouth enters the week at 7-9 under first-year head coach Justin DeSanto. The Big Green saw its match canceled at Prairie View on Thursday and is working through a three-match losing streak, with a 4-0 home win over Bryant snapping four consecutive losses before that. Leading the way for Big Green singles, sophomore Miles Groom is 11-2 with the bulk coming on court four, while junior Alex Knox-Jones is 9-3 with his main position at court six. In doubles, Groom pairs with sophomore Waleed Qadir for a team-leading 7-2 mark on the bottom two doubles courts.

Up Next
The Roadrunners will host their first midweek competition next week, welcoming the Oregon Ducks to the UTSA Tennis Center on Tuesday, March 26.
