About the Roadrunners
After collecting road points with a draw at Charlotte last Sunday, the Roadrunners are looking to get another key notch in the conference win column, while hosting the Temple Owls this Sunday. Both defenses in the roadie at Charlotte kept the shot counts low, as UTSA had 11 attempts with five on goal and Charlotte took nine with just two on target – both Jasmine Kessler saves. In the last home outing, UTSA fell to Tulsa, 2-1, despite erupting for 27 shots, 11 on goal and nine corner kicks.

Freshman forward Addy Johnson remains on top of the UTSA goal count with three scores, while sophomore Michelle Polo tops the Roadrunners with 26 shots – Polo also paces UTSA with four assists, while Walker and Alvarez both have three. Sophomore goalkeeper Jasmine Kessler has a 0.90 goals-against-average, 50 saves and a .794 save percentage.

About Temple
The Owls have struggled this season in the first year under Chris Shaw, a decorated 15-year veteran coach that previously led Robert Morris and UNLV’s squads. Temple is on a six-game losing skid, recording their last win in a 1-0 result on Sept. 15 against Navy at home. Countered by a close 1-0 setback last time out at South Florida, the Owls have given up at least three goals in the other five of the losing streak.

Offensively, Temple averages 0.60 goals per game and have nine scores on the year, while taking 7.9 shots per game with only 4.2 on goal per outing. Sophomore forward Shari Atkins leads the offense with three goals and two assists, while grad student midfielder Yao Zhou has a pair of goals and assists. Between the pipes, sophomore Tamsin Bynoe has allowed 35 goals for a 2.70 GAA, facing a ton of shots with 88 saves and a .715 save percentage.

Series history
Sunday will mark the second meeting in the series, after opening up last October in Philadelphia with a 2-0 UTSA win, courtesy of goals from Walker and Polo in the first eight minutes and then in the final six. UTSA made the most of 10 shots with seven on target, while Kessler registered six saves.

UP NEXT: After the seniors are honored on Sunday, the Roadrunners are down to two regular season games on the schedule, amid a tight race for the American Athletic Conference Championships field. The Roadrunners will travel to South Florida next Thursday, Oct. 24, then close out the main season at home against Florida Atlantic on Halloween.
