by Alma Solis

AUSTIN, Texas – The UTSA men’s tennis team (1-2) battled against No. 4 Texas (3-1), falling to the Longhorns by 4-1 on Saturday at the Texas Tennis Center.

UTSA battled in doubles action to secure the first point of the match. At court three, Tiago Torres and Miguel Alonso defeated Pierre-Yves Bailly and Lucas Brown, 6-4, to start things off. The duo of Alan Magadan and Tomás Pinho overcame nation's No. 3-ranked pair of Eliot Spizzirri and Cleeve Harper, 7-6 (5), to secure the early 1-0 advantage for the Roadrunners.

In singles play, UTSA struggled to defeat UT’s nationally-ranked individuals. At court four, Jackson Ross won his first set by 6-1 over No. 82 Cleeve Harper, before dropping the second set by 4-6 and not finishing the third set. Danijal Muminovic also won his first set at court five by 6-2, before going unfinished up 4-3 in the second set against No. 28 Jonah Braswell.

Quoting Coach Sergey Avdeyev

"I am very proud of how we played doubles today. The guys did exactly what we asked. We will continue to work and hopefully soon, we will start seeing the same outcome in singles."
