SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA volleyball program will provide fans an inside look at the 2024 roster on Friday, Aug. 23, as they host an intrasquad scrimmage with first serve at the Convocation Center set for 6 p.m. Admission will be free, and following the match, there will be an autograph session with the team.
The 'Runners return nine from last year's squad, in the form of redshirt seniors Alicia Coppedge and Aliah Giroux, senior Faye Wilbricht, juniors Caroline Krueger and Mia Soerensen, and sophomores Makenna Wiepert, Peyton Turner, Kai Bailey and Miranda Putnicki.
Sophomore Annika Sokol represents the lone transfer, joining the 'Runners after a freshman season at UCF, while six freshmen complete the roster in Martina Franco, Bailey Lechler, Caroline Tredwell, Ally Tribe, Isabella Arroyave and Morgen Durgens.
After the intrasquad scrimmage, UTSA will dive into the regular season visiting Norfolk, Virginia, for the Quest for the Crown tournament hosted by Old Dominion, ahead of the home opener against Texas State on Sept. 4. The Roadrunners will also hold two tournaments of their own before beginning league play with the UTSA Invitational spanning Sept. 6-7 and featuring Holy Cross, Abilene Christian and UIW. The Roadrunner Classic follows from Sept. 13-14 as the squad invites Central Arkansas, Alabama, and Sam Houston into the Convo.
Eight conference opponents will head to the Alamo City across the 2024 season, with North Texas, Tulane, UAB, Tulsa, South Florida, Rice, Memphis and Florida Atlantic on the docket. Fans can purchase season tickets at www.goutsa.com/vbtickets.
