Stuedeman announces Harrell as latest softball signee

Harrell represents the ninth member of the 2024 signing class

SAN ANTONIO — On Thursday, UTSA softball coach Vann Stuedeman officially announced the signing of Jett Harrell, who inks with the squad following two years at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

Harrell will join the Roadrunners after a stellar career at MGCCC that saw her named to the 2022 All-Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Athletics (MACCC) first-team and the All-NJCAA Region 23 squad as a freshman. At the plate, she hit .396 with eight home runs and 45 RBIs while posting a 20-6 record in the circle. 

Her sophomore season saw her work a .364 AVG, with seven home runs and 47 RBIs, slotting her seventh in the MACCC. She went 12-7 as a pitcher, working a 3.79 ERA across 109.0 IP toeing the slab. 

At Lee Academy, Harrell was named all-conference across all four years and claimed MVP honors as a junior and senior. She won Best Defense as a sophomore, All-Star honors as a junior, and was team captain as a senior. Harrell was a state champion hurdler on the track and lettered in basketball for the Colts. 

A phenomenal club career saw her represent the Blue Angels under Rose Kalisak, where she was named a 2022 All-Star by the Colorado National Fastpitch Association, an All-American, and a Colorado Fastpitch Triple Crown National Sparkler. Additionally, in 2023, she was named an All-Star with the Rain softball team, winning the Music City Division of the American Collegiate League in the process.

Harrell got the job done in the classroom, boasting a 3.97 GPA and graduating fifth in the 2022 class. A four-time honor roll selection, she was president of the National Honor Society, a Chi Alpha Mu Honorary, and a Mu Alpha Theta Math Honorary. She recorded a Platinum Score for ACT Work Readiness, was a Chase Bailey Award recipient, a Heisman Scholarship High School Winner, and a Trent Lott Leadership Institute Nominee for Rising 12th Graders. Harrell was also a member of the Catholic Youth Organization, Key Club, Clarksdale Crown Club, Mississippi Department of Archives volunteer, Junior Auxiliary Angel Tree Charity Event volunteer, Lee Academy Student Body President, Miss Lee Academy, and the Lee Academy Homecoming Queen.

She is the daughter of Todd Harrell and Jenifer Joyner and the stepdaughter of Sean Joyner and Robin Harrell. She has two brothers, Michael and Justin, and one sister, Ashley. At UTSA, Harrell plans to study business with the goal of attending law school and becoming a real estate attorney. 

Harrell becomes the ninth member of the singing class, joining Katia Reyes, Madison HornbeckAva EldridgeReagan StoudtSabrina WickSkylar RuckerAngelica Ortiz, and Kaylie Olivarez.
